My email to the Echo Newspaper in reply to an article they did on Missy, the amazing toilet trained rat (said with sarcasm) 

I was happy to see a fairly positive article on rat ownership, however the article revealed disturbing undertones in that Missy was for a very long time neglected and lived in a hamster cage,  essentially, "living in her own toilet".  If your rat cage smells it's because it's dirty and you need to clean it.  After all poor Missy couldn't very well clean her own cage out and no one has invented a flushing toilet for rats yet!
